This Application Note describes using a Master 8 pulse generator and Prior ProScanTM III XYZ motor controller with Prior’s TTL Breakout Box, Shutter, and Z Motor to create a high speed Z stack imaging system. Z-Stack imaging allows the user to combine several images taken at different focus depths to create one image with a greater depth of field than any one image. This technique is paticuarly useful when individual images have a very shallow depth of field. By using a ProScanTM system, the process could be made much faster; and the user gained total control over the timing and movement of the system.
