Discontinuation of L200 illuminator and LM375 bulbs

From 25th November 2026, Prior Scientific will no longer supply LM375 bulbs or offer RMA support for our L200 illuminators. This is to comply with EU RoHS legislation banning the manufacture and sale of halogen and mercury bulbs. The ban also covers the repair of such devices.

While this legislation has been in place in many industries for over a decade, the use of metal halide and mercury bulbs for research has so far been exempted from these bans. While the research exemption has been pushed back several times, there is no evidence to suggest that the current exemption will be extended beyond 24th February 2027 and we will therefore complete our phase-out of the L200 and LM375 products as follows:

Last accepted orders for LM375 bulbs – 24th November 2026

Last accepted date for L200 RMAs – 24th November 2026

Last ship by dates for LM375 bulb orders – 24th January 2027

Last ship by dates for L200 RMAs – 24th January 2027

Date that affected products will be made inactive – 1st February 2027
