Prior Scientific has released a new, high-speed 8-position filter wheel that enables users to quickly and easily alter illumination to suit different samples or microscopy techniques and increase their throughput without losing image quality.
With a filter change time of less than 38 ms, it is the fastest filter changer for 32mm filters currently available on the market for microscopy and is 17 ms faster than Prior’s older HF108A high-speed filter wheel. Its speed is also highly competitive against filter wheels used with smaller filters, which put restrictions on field of view: the HF108B lacks this drawback, combining speed with a wider field of view.
The HF108B is lightweight and easy to install on existing equipment. Its slim profile (21 mm) minimizes the impact on the infinity space, allowing users to add multiple components, filter turrets and laser autofocus systems, without compromising image quality when using large-chip cameras. It also allows the wheel to be used alongside F-mount cameras outside the infinity space on commercial microscopes.
The HF108B is also an ideal component for system integrators and OEM products, such as confocal add-on units for commercial microscopes
For commercial microscopes, the HF108B comes fitted with either a C-mount, TFL-mount or F-mount camera adapter. Other mounts may be available on request. These filter wheels are also delivered with a mechanism for ensuring objectives can be made parfocal.
Typical applications for the high-speed filter wheel include fluorescence microscopy, confocal and super-resolution microscopy, and automated high-content screening.
