This design makes it easier to load and access samples while maintaining compatibility with a wide range of microscope accessories such as microscope slides, multiwell plates, semiconductor wafers, metallurgical samples, or custom fixtures. Because the objectives sit below the sample, there is ample space above for peripheral equipment such as micromanipulators and incubators.
