Fluorescence Illumination Systems
The Lumen
200 Fluorescence Illumination System is a powerful, cost effective alternative to standard 100 Watt mercury and halogen lamphouses. The combination of Prior's proprietary 2,000 hour life, 200 watt metal arc lamp and two or three meter liquid light guide provide unrivalled versatility and illumination power. The Lumen
200 utilizes a metal halide
lamp rather than the more traditional high pressure mercury
or xenon burners. This means 2000 hours of stable output
compared to a maximum of 300 hours for a mercury lamp.
Coupled to the microscope using a liquid light guide
there is very little heat transfer helping to eliminate
thermal drift during time lapse experiments. The Lumen
200 also incorporates a variable light attenuation
control to reduce the potential of bleaching and phototoxicity. Prior also offers the Lumen
220 model which offers extended transmission in UV and IR compared to the standard Lumen 200 model.
LumenPRO Fluorescence Illumination Systems
For fully automated solutions the Lumen
200PRO features a motorized internal six position filter
wheel for fast switching of excitation wavelength. Being
remote from the microscope means no vibration. No vibration
means no settling time. No settling time means faster
imaging! The light attenuation and shuttering is also
motorized in the Lumen
200PRO allowing a selection
of intensity over 100 increments to perfectly balance
exposure to the sensitivity of your cells and fluorescent
markers.Prior also offers the Lumen
220PRO model which offers extended transmission in UV and IR compared to the standard Lumen 200PRO model.
LumenLED Illuminator
The use of LEDs as an excitation source for fluorescence microscopy offer a range of advantages over conventional illumination systems. The LumenLED system from Prior Scientific goes even further with the introduction of new functionality which brings the technology into mainstream fluorescence microscopy.
LumenLED offers two modes of operation which allows the LEDs to be optimized for specific applications. In Constant Light Mode, a photodiode is used to provide a closed loop feedback mechanism to ensure short and long term stability of illumination intensity, essential for quantitative experiments. For more general imaging applications, Constant Current Mode is available to assure maximum illumination intensity.
Microscope Illumination Systems
We also
offer a range of light sources designed for use in stereo
microscopy with power and accessories to suit many applications.
These include cold light sources of 150W (CL150 Fiber Optic Illuminator)
and 20W (CL20 Fiber Optic Illuminator) with
a vast array of light guides and ring lights to perfectly
illuminate large and small specimens under stereoscopic
inspection.
For the
budget conscious we have a small dedicated Fluorescent
Ring Light which
gives an even illumination at a fixed intensity and comfortable
colour temperature, perfect for routine inspection applications.
